More trouble for the former CEO of Death Row Records.
Suge Knight is no stranger to crime and punishment, but new evidence in his ongoing murder investigation could point to the likelihood of Knight being locked up for good.
TMZ has released a graphic video of rap mogul and accused murderer Marion “Suge” Knight’s fatal hit and run that took place in Compton last month.
The sickening security camera footage shows Knight running over two men, one of whom died as a result of his injuries.
In the video, you can see Knight pull up to the Compton hamburger stand Tam’s Burgers, a location shoot for a movie Dr. Dre was shooting. After pulling up, Knight is confronted by Cle “Bone” Sloan, who worked security for the film. Sloan and Knight seem to be tussling through the driver’s window, when Knight violently throws the truck in reverse, knocking Sloan to the ground.
Knight then guns the engine, running over Sloan again, and also mowing down Terry Carter, the man who died, before speeding away in his red Jeep. (Knight later turned himself in to police).
Knight’s lawyer claims he did not intentionally run over the victims and was merely trying to escape Sloan and Carter, whom Knight alleges were armed with guns. The video seems to corroborate that at least one of the men was armed (as Sloan lies on the ground, you can see another man walk up, remove something from Sloan and put it in his waistband), but prosecutors believe Knight ran over the men intentionally.
While the video footage, recorded by Tam’s Burgers’ surveillance camera, seems pretty grisly for public consumption, it was actually Carter’s family who asked TMZ to post the shocking video.
In a statement obtained by TMZ, the family’s lawyer, Gary Dordick, says, “The Carter family is pleased you are releasing the video so the public can see what actually occurred and not be forced to speculate based on third party descriptions of the video.”
The fatal altercation began earlier in the day when Knight, Carter, and Sloan argued on the set of Dr. Dre’s N.W.A. biopic “Straight Outta Compton.” Knight was kicked off the film set and followed Sloan and Carter to the Tam’s Burgers filming location. Knight claims he went to Tam’s to make peace with Dr. Dre.
The criminal investigation is still ongoing, with Knight facing a murder charge, as well as attempted premeditated murder, hit and run resulting in death, and hit and run resulting in injury. The video is expected to be a key piece of evidence in the pending trial.
If convicted of murder, Knight is looking at life in prison.
